Discover the best of Sri Lanka in one day with a morning climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an authentic village experience with traditional lunch, and an exciting evening safari at Minneriya National Park to spot wild elephants and other wildlife.
08.00 AM -You will be picked up by your own chauffer guide and with his private vehicle and transfer to Sigiriya. (pickup is available from Sigiriya, Dambulla, Habarana).
08.30 AM – The Sigiriya Rock climbing experience begins at the entrance of the ancient royal gardens, where visitors walk through beautifully designed water gardens, fountains, and landscaped pathways dating back to the 5th century.
visitors reach the iconic Lion’s Gate, where the massive stone lion paws mark the entrance to the summit. As the journey continues, climbers ascend a series of stairways leading to the famous Sigiriya frescoes and the Mirror Wall, which showcase the artistic brilliance of the ancient kingdom.
The final ascent takes climbers to the top of the rock fortress, where the ruins of King Kashyapa’s royal palace can be explored.
11.30 AM – on completion you will be taken for authentic village experience at Hiriwadunna.
12.00 PM – Upon arrival your guide will be a brief summary about the Authentic Hiriwadunna village tour.
Guests then enjoy a scenic bullock cart ride along village paths and through lush paddy fields before crossing a picturesque lake on a traditional catamaran boat.
A guided walk through the village provides an opportunity to observe local farming practices and daily life. The experience continues with a visit to a village home.
13.00 PM – Enjoy an authentic culinary experience with a live cooking demonstration and a traditional Sri Lankan meal prepared and served in a local village house.
14.00 PM – Leave the village and proceed to Minneriya National Park to witness wild Elephants.
14.30 PM – Minneriya National Park covers about 21,000 acres (8,889 hectares). It is part of Sri Lanka’s dry zone, where typical plant and animal species thrive, and elephants are especially abundant.
The park is best known for the spectacular gathering of wild elephants, often called “The Gathering”, when hundreds of elephants congregate around the Minneriya Tank during the dry season.
18.00 PM – On completion return back to your hotels.
